Dear neighbors/Querides vecines,

We’re Richmond Area Mutual Aid — a group of neighbors from the area now known as Richmond, San Pablo, and El Cerrito, California. Our goal is simple: we want our whole community to be safe, joyful, and thriving.

Somos Richmond Area Mutual Aid, un grupo de vecinas, vecinos y vecines de la zona actualmente conocida como Richmond, San Pablo y El Cerrito, California. Nuestro objetivo es sencillo: queremos que toda nuestra comunidad sea segura, alegre y próspera.

We believe in mutual aid: helping one another so that everyone has what they need. When one of us shares what we can, and another receives with dignity, our whole community becomes stronger.

Creemos en la ayuda mutua: apoyarnos entre todes para que todas las personas tengan lo que necesitan. Cuando una persona comparte lo que puede y otra recibe con dignidad, toda la comunidad se fortalece.

FOOD / ALIMENTOS

These groceries are a small way of saying that you matter — that we look out for one another. Neither fear nor money should keep you from feeding your household.

Estos alimentos son una pequeña manera de decir que importas — que cuidamos unes de otres. Ni el miedo ni el dinero deberían impedirte alimentar a tu hogar.

We do not have the capacity (money, space, people) to continue buying groceries for the community in the way we have been. We are looking at different possibilities for how we can continue to support you and the rest of the community. We would like to reimagine this together with you.

No tenemos la capacidad (dinero, espacio, personas voluntarias) para seguir comprando víveres para la comunidad como lo hemos hecho hasta ahora. Estamos explorando distintas maneras de seguir apoyándote a ti y al resto de la comunidad. Nos gustaría reimaginar esto juntes.

IDEAS WE ARE CONSIDERING/IDEAS QUE ESTAMOS CONSIDERANDO: 

1. Matching households who need groceries, errands, or other support with neighbors who can help each other in a secure way.
   
   Conectar hogares que necesitan víveres, mandados u otro tipo de apoyo con vecinos que puedan ayudar unos a otros de forma segura.
   
2. Neighborhood grocery distribution where people in each neighborhood team up to support one another — for example, neighbors packing and delivering groceries to each other or setting up a central pickup spot. Do you know of a community center or church where this could happen?
   
   Distribución de alimentos por vecindario, donde las personas se organicen para apoyarse mutuamente — por ejemplo, empacando y entregando víveres o estableciendo un punto de recolección central. ¿Conoces un centro comunitario o iglesia donde esto podría realizarse?
   
3. Community pantries and/or refrigerators throughout the neighborhood where everyone can contribute and receive food. Do you know of a community center, church, restaurant, business, home, or other space that could host one?
   
   Despensas y/o refrigeradores comunitarios en el vecindario donde todes puedan contribuir y recibir alimentos. ¿Conoces algún centro comunitario, iglesia, restaurante, negocio, casa u otro espacio que podría albergar uno?
